NEW BEDFORD – A woman Marion and a man from New Bedford were arrested Friday afternoon on charges of drug trafficking after police received extensive advice from community members.
Ryan Potter, 45, of New Bedford was arrested on crack cocaine trafficking charges, among other charges, while Lindsey Cerkovitz, 40, of Marion was arrested for possession of heroin.
Police said on November 5, narcotics detectives staked a house at 248 Field Street over a number of complaints from neighbors about suspected drug activity.
Detectives saw a car they recognized arriving at the house and according to police, as detectives approached, the passenger attempted to throw two small plastic bags out the window.
The two bags were later found to contain more than 30 grams of crack, police said.
Potter, the passenger, was later found to be in possession of a small amount of heroin, over $ 600 in cash, a digital scale and two cell phones.
Police said he had three active arrest warrants, including one for armed robbery.
The money was seized and Potter was charged with cocaine trafficking, possession of heroin and resisting arrest.
Cerkovitz, who was driving the car, had a small amount of heroin and an active arrest warrant.
