1.How do you feel after the launch of Raktanchal 2 Trailer?

Of course, I’m delighted. My team and I have worked very hard to create Raktanchal 2, and now after all our hard work, the fruit of our labor is about to see the light of day, it is thrilling and exciting. We can’t wait to see the reaction of the public. After the COVID phase, it’s a good feeling to be back at work and I’m especially excited to see the audience reaction to my character; which is an element of surprise in the show.

2. What do you think audiences will expect from the show?

We all know my character Roli on the show is your proverbial girl-next-door character; as seen in season 1. The series is based on true events and it is dripping with old world charm. Roli is a simple housewife who sneaks into politics and crime, because of the circumstances she faces in life. In season 2, you will see my character develop and advance the story; she will turn into “Mafia Queen Of Poorvanchal” and yes, it’s always difficult to play real characters. Personally, it’s hard to play such a character at the start of my career and let go of the glamorous look that we come into the industry with. Season 2 is an amalgamation of complex relationships, politics, crime, bloodshed and more. I haven’t seen the final cut of the series and so I will also enjoy it once it launches for the public.

3. How did you integrate Raktanchal Season 1 and Season 2? How was the experience of filming in the time of COVID?

I am grateful to the creators MX Player and creator, producer and developer Shashank Rai, Pinaka Studios, for including me in the Raktanchal series. I am grateful to Pradeep Gupta ji for believing in me because it is a very captivating and touching story. Who wouldn’t want to do it as an actor! they had seen my work before, but trusting me to play the character honestly and do him justice was all down to their faith. A lot of actresses had auditioned for it but Shahshank’s belief in me as his Roli Singh in Raktanchal was phenomenal. Filming during COVID was very difficult; but full credit for safety and ensuring the job doesn’t stop goes to Shashank and Pradeep Gupta ji; Pinaka Studios and Mahima Productions. The fear factor was so high due to the quarantine period and COVID but they handled it all so well, hats off to them.

4. What are your next upcoming projects?

First, Raktanchal Season 2 is coming, after which there are 3 more shows in the works. One is on Disney Hotstar, the other is on Sony Live and then there is a movie with Inder Kumar ji. I don’t want to discuss the details of the movie yet as I think the production house should have the first say and work out the details as they feel fit.

Right now I want to focus on my series and let my work speak for itself and for me.

5. What are your plans for this year?

As I mentioned, there are a lot of good things in the pipeline; and as time goes by, my fans and audience should be able to see my music video which will be released next month and of course there are two more movies in the works. Rest I would like to spend some time returning to my hometown, Delhi. And if the circumstances allow it, I would like to travel and recharge my batteries.

6. Tell us about your background?

My journey has been full of ups and downs; entertaining and he’s been amazing so far. I have just started my journey; small steps towards my dream. The last two years have been slow for all of us, but the good thing is that the movement has never stopped. My first movie, Ranchi Diaries with Anupam Kher, sir was well received and i won “best debutante” award at Jharkhand International Film Festival, i was nominated for awards; received Lokmat’s Most Stylish Diva 2018 and Dada Saheb Phalke ‘Face of the Year’ 2019. Then I went to Los Angeles to study acting at the New York Film Academy and the Lee Strasberg Film & Theater Institute. So all of that makes me believe it was worth it and it was fantastic.

Being a medical student and deciding to switch to Bollywood was a very difficult choice; but thanks to the support of my parents, I was able to make the transition and live my dream even though I had no contacts in the industry. My work spoke for me. I am an eternal optimist and believe things will only get better from now on. The focus should always stay on your target.
