Mangaluru: Students traveling together attacked by Bajrang Dal activists – Five arrested

Mangaluru, September 28: A video clip believed to be linked to Bajrang Dal activists’ raid on some students who were traveling together in a vehicle is being actively shared on social media.

Six friends studying at a private medical school belonging to different religions had visited Malpe beach. Upon their return in the evening, activists from Bajrang Dal reportedly intercepted and assaulted them. The gang reportedly questioned Hindu girls about accompanying Muslim friends. Police Inspector Sharif intervened and controlled the friction between the two groups, it is said.

Based on a complaint filed by Savio T Alonso (20), a student of the medical school, regarding the incident that occurred near the Surathkal toll booth, a case under Articles 341, 323 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Surathkal police station.

In connection with said moral police incident, Preetam Shetty, Pramukh district of Bajrang Dal, Arshit, Prakhand Pramukh of Bajrang Dal, Srinivas, Rakesh and Abhishek were arrested in connection with this incident.

According to the police, there were no Hindu girls, but two Christian boys and a Muslim boy and three Muslim girls in the vehicle.
