How does God speak to us today? | Religion

It is not uncommon in today’s society to hear someone say that God has spoken to them. Television and radio preachers even claim to have heard God speak to them vocally. Some have very specific messages.

The purpose of today’s article is to understand how God speaks to us today. Does God really speak to us vocally? Can we really hear the voice of God speaking to us? Does God speak to us unconsciously? And if God speaks to us, does that mean that a new revelation is given to us? Is the Bible incomplete? Do we need further instruction from God? Why does God speak to some people while others receive no message? These questions and many more are relevant to our study today. How do you know what the truth is? The Bible must surely be outdated.

It seems like all one has to do is say God has spoken to him and instantly there is a new follower, teaching a new doctrine. People are misled and some will believe anything. Of course, it may only be a small percentage of the population, but it is a real problem. Many of you may remember the Jim Jones event that happened on November 18, 1978. Over 900 men, women and children died in mass suicide. They have been led astray by this man’s deceptions, lies and false statements. They sold all of their possessions and donated them to the Jim Jones Church. Perhaps you are aware of other events or sequels that were not so tragic.

We have to start with the Bible first to understand what it says about itself. The word itself, if we understand it correctly, will be able to defend itself as being the word of God and all that is necessary in the communication of God for the people of all times.

Second Timothy 3:16 states: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is useful for teaching, for convincing, for correcting, for instructing in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for all. good work. “

In this particular verse, we learn that the scriptures are the inspired word of God. Therefore, it is God’s instruction that is beneficial for all areas of life. The word helps to complete the individual to maturity, to make us righteous, gives us our doctrine (this is what we believe) for rebuke and correction. Everything we need spiritually is in the word of God. That’s what the Bible claims.

The Bible teaches us about Jesus and what we should believe in, how we should worship and lead our lives. The Bible teaches us about morals, relationships and matters of the heart – that is, purity of heart and of motives. The Bible can help us in business and finance. In addition, there are common sense health practices in its teachings, relationship issues, among others.

Second Timothy 2:15, “Be diligent in presenting yourselves approved to God as a worker who need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Jude 3 tells us to “strive fervently for the faith which has been delivered once and for all to the saints.”

So the truth has been fulfilled, it has been delivered, and we must strive for the faith that has been delivered once and for all to the saints.

The book of Hebrews 1: 1-2 states: “God, who in various times and in various ways once spoke to the fathers through the prophets, has spoken to us these last days through his son, whom he had named heir. of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.

Here we have in these two verses where the message was delivered once and for all, and also that God is speaking to us today through His Son. How does God speak to us today through his Son? It is through the words of Christ, the message of Christ. I am not trying to limit God to tell God that he cannot speak other than by his word. On the other hand, he told me how he speaks to us today, through the message of his son Jesus Christ. So when someone tells me that they heard God speaking with them, I have big question marks in my head.

I’m here to say that no one hears the voice of God speaking with them today. If they maintain this, they are delusional and the truth is not in them. Otherwise, the word of God has no value for us today. We might as well reject the word of God if we fail to believe it and accept all of the different types of teaching from those who claim to hear God. The revelation of God by inspiration has ceased. It ended with the death of the apostles and the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70. There is no new revelation from God. Also, if there was a new revelation from God, it would have to be in perfect harmony with the Bible.

Galatians 1: 8-9 states, “But if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel than the one we preached to you, be it cursed. As we have said before, I repeat now, if anyone preaches to you any other gospel than the one you have received, be cursed.

Jesus himself warned against false prophets; he said, “Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but within are ravenous wolves.

Throughout the Bible, various warnings are given against false teachers and false prophets. We must be careful to be able to spot a false teacher and correct his teachings. How do you know what is true and what is false? By a knowledge of the word of God. We have to know and understand the word. We must make an effort to acquire this knowledge and understand God’s message. This message is the words of life. We certainly do not want to do anything to prevent the soul from inheriting its eternal home in heaven.
